Round One: A Thanksgiving Tragedy
Submissions are open for the first phase of our community story!
Dates: TBD
Rules: Write 2-5 paragraphs. Must be G-rated and community-focused.
Round One -
The smell of burnt pies filled the kitchen as smoke billowed out of the oven like a dark cloud. The piercing shriek of the smoke alarm was an added charm to the moment. Sara sighed and sank into a chair at the kitchen table.
After taking flak for bringing a store-bought pie to her family’s Thanksgiving last year, she had decided to bake some instead.
What had she been thinking? She wasn’t a cook and she hated cooking. She couldn’t even boil water.
Sara was also a very poor planner. Lost in dreams with her nose in books, she had put off this catastrophe until the last possible moment. Tomorrow was Thanksgiving, and she couldn’t bring burnt pumpkin pie… could she?
Her despair was interrupted by a sudden pounding on the front door.
Now it's your turn. Send in a couple of paragraphs on how the story continues.
